Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park on the banks of the River Derwent, The Plough dates back to the 16th century and has been welcoming travellers, tourists and locals ever since.
This family-owned traditional pub with a restaurant and stylish rooms, is great place from which to explore the UK’s first National Park and we’re just a short drive from Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. We are also very lucky to be a short walk from David Mellor’s award-winning visitor centre.
Our dedicted team of talented chefs take great pride in the seasonal menus they produce. All our food is cooked fresh and to order, which is served as soon as it is ready.

From bar snacks to three-course meals, our chefs cook everything fresh to order, using seasonal and local produce wherever possible.
Our well-stocked bar offers a choice of fine old and new world wines, local ales and European lagers, along with soft drinks and freshly brewed tea and coffee.
We have seven stylish, well appointed en suite rooms and three luxury shepherd huts, which are all fully plumbed-in.
Whether you’re planning an overnight stay or a longer break, we have the perfect setting, whether you want to simply relax and unwind, or to explore the stunning Peak District.
We offer six acres of flat, well-maintained grounds on the banks of the River Derwent, perfect for weddings and private events.
There is also a smaller events area beyond the terraced seating area, which with its own dedicated outdoor bar is ideal for smaller private events and parties.
Throughout March we will be offering a new small set menu, running alongside our main menu, which will be served Monday to Saturday.
